About This Tool
The WebEvra Password Generator creates cryptographically secure random passwords using your browser's built-in Web Crypto API. Unlike many online generators, no data ever leaves your device. Choose from traditional character-based passwords or easy-to-remember passphrases. The strength meter calculates actual entropy bits and estimates crack time against modern GPU-based attacks. Built by WebEvra, a web development agency specializing in secure, high-performance websites.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this password generator safe to use?
Yes. This tool runs entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues). No passwords are ever sent to any server. Your generated passwords never leave your device.
What makes a password strong?
A strong password is at least 12 characters long and includes a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. The more random and longer the password, the harder it is to crack. Our tool calculates entropy bits to measure true password strength.
What is a passphrase and is it more secure?
A passphrase is a password made up of random words (e.g., "correct-horse-battery-staple"). Passphrases with 4-6 random words are very secure and much easier to remember than random character passwords. Our tool can generate passphrases with customizable word count and separator.
How is the crack time estimated?
The crack time estimate is based on the password's entropy (randomness measured in bits) and assumes an attacker can make 10 billion guesses per second (modern GPU-based cracking). Higher entropy means exponentially longer crack times.
Should I use a different password for every account?
Absolutely. Reusing passwords means a breach on one site can compromise all your accounts. Use a unique strong password for each account and store them in a password manager. Our bulk generation feature makes it easy to create multiple unique passwords at once.
